Is your reputation opening the right doors for you?

A stack of Signal Books

The promotion. The speaking invitation. The career change. The dream client. The business breakthrough.

We tend to think these opportunities begin when someone says yes. But they start earlier, with what people already know about you and the reputation you’ve built. You don’t develop a powerful reputation by creating polished content or gaining followers. You earn it by becoming more intentional about the person you want the world to know.

Signal: How to Design a Reputation That Attracts Opportunity is a practical guide to consciously shaping a reputation that reflects who you are, where you’re going, and the value you consistently create for others.

Through personal stories and hands-on exercises, you’ll learn how to align the layers of your identity, build credibility around your expertise, strengthen the signals you send into the world, and build a network that recognizes your value.

Attracting opportunity isn’t the same as waiting for a lucky break.
Act like the person who's ready to answer the door.

Is this a book about personal branding?

Yes, but probably not in the way you expect. Signal approaches personal branding as modern reputation. Instead of starting with content, followers, or a polished LinkedIn profile, the book starts with you: who you want to become, what you want to be known for, and how you can make that reputation visible and credible to others.

Do I need to be an entrepreneur or business owner?

No. The principles apply whether you run a company, work inside an organization, are pursuing a promotion, changing careers, building a consulting practice, or simply want your professional reputation to better reflect what you're capable of.

Can I use the worksheets with my team?

Yes. In fact, that’s one of their purposes. If you eventually work with a designer, photographer, copywriter, content creator, marketing team, or agency, your completed worksheets can give them a much clearer understanding of your identity, objectives, positioning, and the reputation you want to build.

Is Signal about reinventing myself?

Not necessarily. You may discover that some things need to change, but the goal isn't to manufacture a more impressive version of yourself. It's to understand what makes you worth knowing, decide where you want to go, and intentionally build the signals that help the right people recognize it.

A strong reputation shouldn't make you look like someone else.

It should make the best parts of you easier to see.
