What is the FIT Storyboard?

The FIT Storyboard™ is a canvas that helps you map your customer's journey step-by-step. It works just like a film storyboard: each input represents a key action, realization, or shift. You build a beginning, middle, and end. In doing so, you'll uncover a powerful narrative arc for your pitch.

Getting Started

Turn your customer’s journey into a pitch that actually resonates.

The FIT Storyboard™ is a storytelling framework designed specifically for business owners, founders, and entrepreneurs who want to pitch with clarity, consistency, and emotional impact.

Instead of rattling off features or throwing together buzzwords, you tell a human-centered story: one where your customer goes from struggling to succeeding, thanks to your solution.

FIT Stands for:

  • F: Failure — The client’s problem and what’s at stake

  • I: Innovation — Why existing alternatives failed, and how your offer fills the gap

  • T: Transformation — How your product drives success and emotional relief

FIT Stands for:

  • F: Failure — The client’s problem and what’s at stake

  • I: Innovation — Why existing alternatives failed, and how your offer fills the gap

  • T: Transformation — How your product drives success and emotional relief

01.

Failure

What’s frustrating your client? Start with the challenge your client is facing, the problem they can’t fix. Focus on their pain, not your product.

02.

Innovation

What have they already tried, and why didn’t it work? Look at the competitors. Show how your solution fills the gap others leave open. This is your unique edge.

03.

Transformation

How does your offer finally helps them win? This is the breakthrough moment. Your client overcomes the problem and hits their goal, thanks to your solution.

Endless Outputs

Why This Works

The FIT Storyboard is not about guessing. It’s built from real stories and real insights. That’s why:

  • It highlights what’s actually driving your customer

  • It creates a logical and emotional flow

  • It quickly reveals weak spots in your pitch

  • It makes it easy to repurpose your story for multiple use cases

When your narrative is built with intention, your message sticks.

Completing The Storyboard

Here's how you fill out the FIT Storyboard

Before you begin: Pick one clear customer. Not a persona. A real person, with a real problem your product is uniquely built to solve.

Then, fill in the seven FIT Storyboard sections:

1. The User

  • Name, age, location

  • Archetype: What makes them relatable to others?

2. The Win

  • Motivation: Deep, emotional reasons for their goal (ex: confidence, stability, pride)

  • Goal: A clear, tangible outcome they want to achieve

3. The Fail

  • Problem: What’s not working?

  • Causes: What’s fueling the issue? (Habits, trends, constraints)

4. The Stakes

  • What do they risk if they don’t solve this?

  • Time, money, well-being, credibility?

5. The Alternatives

  • What have they tried before?

  • Why didn’t it work?

  • What’s missing from current options?

6. The Solution

  • What’s your product or service?

  • What is your unique edge over alternatives?

7. The Transformation

  • Tangible Result: Measurable outcome (saved time, increased sales, better retention)

  • Emotional Response: Relief, pride, clarity, momentum

Nail Your Core Story

From Storyboard to Core Story

With the completed storyboard, your next step is to distill it into a Core Story: a tight, 30–60 second version that captures the essence of how your customer goes from failure to success.

This is NOT marketing copy. It’s the foundational narrative that powers your pitch.

Your Core Story becomes the DNA for everything else:

  • Elevator pitch

  • Video ads

  • Sales calls

  • Landing pages

  • Fundraising decks

Same story. Different formats. Total consistency.

About the FIT Storyboard Author: Alejandra Copeland

I'm Alejandra,
nice to meet you!

  • 20+ years in marketing and storytelling and Fortune 500s

  • Produced and edited thousands of promos and trailers for prime TV networks

  • Author of the Pitch Like a Pro playbooks and creator of the FIT Storytelling method

I’m Alejandra Copeland, a pitch storytelling expert and business pitch coach helping businesses cut through the noise. As the founder of Ok Yes, a pitch storytelling agency, I help you master your pitch and scale your success.

From my experience as a pitch coach, I've found that when you center your arguments on the problem your product solves—not the product itself—it instantly becomes more engaging.

Here’s the truth: It’s not just about fundraising. If you struggle to explain your product in a way even a third grader can grasp, your go-to-market strategy is at risk.

With my FIT Storyboarding method, creating a persuasive pitch is surprisingly simple.

Common Questions about the Ok Yes Pitch Review

Is the FIT Storyboard free?

Yes. Just provide your email address and we’ll send you the downloadable PDF, complete with basic instructions.

What's the best method to create a pitch?

The best pitches don’t start with your product — they start with your customer’s story. That’s exactly what the FIT Storyboard is built for. It guides you through a proven structure:

  • Failure: the customer’s problem

  • Innovation: what’s missing in the market

  • Transformation: how your product drives success

This method helps you craft a compelling, emotionally resonant story that builds trust and makes your value proposition clear. It’s a pitch strategy that connects — and converts.

Can I upload the filled canvas to Storify Pitch Builder?

Yes. Once you complete the FIT Storyboard, you can input your answers into the Storify GPT Pitch Generator. It will generate a Core Pitch that you can re-use across multiple formats, from emails to ads to decks.

What if I serve different types of customers?

Each distinct customer segment deserves its own storyboard. Never mix stories into one canvas. Clear, focused stories resonate more deeply.

Do I need to have a product already?

Ideally, yes. The FIT Storyboard works best when you’ve already launched or tested your solution. But even if you're still validating an idea, the method helps you align it to a real customer journey.

Is the FIT Storyboard part of a larger program?

Yes. The FIT Storyboard is the foundation of the Ok Yes Pro System, which helps you build a complete, pitch-ready story and scale it across your brand.

What does FIT Stand for?
